Many people may or may not know that there are two lake associations on Bald Eagle Lake. The first association is Eagle Island Protection Association or EIPA and the second is Bald Eagle Lake Property Owners Association or BELPOA. The history behind these two lake associations goes back years and it is important that our BELPOA members know the history to understand why in recent years there have been new policies developed regarding their access to the boat launch.
EIPA was the first lake association to be founded here on Bald Eagle Lake. It was formed when a resident passed away many years ago. This family donated part of their land to a certain number of parcels. As such, those parcels were deeded access to Dunwoodie beach which includes the beach and boat launch. Additionally, only the residents of those parcels are allowed to be members of EIPA. Therefore, the remaining residents of the lake whom are not deeded rights to EIPA (Dunwoodie Beach) have access to the boat launch only via a Lease Agreement secured by the board members of BELPOA.
BELPOA on the other hand, is an organization that allows all residents of Bald Eagle Lake to become members, including property owners and renters. We have many goals but among them is to maintain an alliance with EIPA for the health and harmony of the lake as well as securing access to the boat launch for BELPOA members.
